This morning as Juliette and I were doing our normal morning scramble (with a couple of extra to-dos because of our trip to Chicago) I sat down on the couch, giving up on the whole ordeal and started flipping through the channels. Ju usually watches crappy celeb gossip in the morning so I was quick to get away from that. I scanned through down into the area that Discovery Channel, History and a couple of others I enjoy when I stopped on animal planet. It caught my eye because there was some script in the bottom left hand corner of the screen like a music video, I read it and it said something to the effect of, “Sunrise, Triangle X Ranch, Moose, Wyoming”.
Color me clueless, but apparently Animal Planet runs two hours of sunrise every morning. Our bantering, stunned to silence, we sat and enjoyed it for the next 10 minutes quietly until we had to go to work.
It looks like this is something that the Discovery HD channel is doing and must have made an arrangement to show it on the Animal Channel for regular cable subscribers… the morning time is not really when I would think to plan to watch tv, but this is better than zen for me.
Attention, potential spoiler info about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix below (for those who haven’t read the book).
In other news, I saw Harry Potter last night and it was kind of… dull. Well, at the very least it didn’t live up to my over-inflated expectations. The story, of course, was enormously condensed. The snake that Voldemort controlled and which Harry could see through its eyes was almost not in the movie, save for a brief attack on Mr. Weasley, which really made no sense in context.
Another spot where things just didn’t flow well was regarding why the Order of the Phoenix was protecting the Prophecy in the first place. Why were they? Oh, doesn’t matter, gets you to the big fight at the end… And speaking of the end, the much-hyped last 23 minutes in Imax (which I paid an extra 4 bucks for) were about as thrilling as watching Jaws 3 in 3-d.
Much like that movie, there were a couple of parts where the 3-d was very exciting, the rest? Not so much. When Dumbledore and Voldemort are fighting at the end they could have enhanced that so much more and I think my brain would have melted. For fuck’s sake, Voldemort made a towering snake out of flames! But for whatever reason, they didn’t, and I’ll probably enjoy it much more when it comes out on dvd, just like the others…
