There’s plenty going on this weekend, don’t be disheartened by the rain this morning, it should (cross fingers) be just clearing up by the time work lets out and we’re all finally allowed to go play.

Speaking of play, there are two big events going on in South Florida this weekend that should have everyone dancing.

Pridefest of the Palm Beaches kicks off in sweet home Lake Worth, sponsored by one of the jewels of the city, the Compass lgbt community center. Events kick off tomorrow, Saturday 3/27, and go until Sunday, 3/28. All the flyers that I’ve seen advertise all events occurring in Bryant Park from noon to 6pm each day, the Grand Parade starts at 11:30 Sunday morning, admission is $5 pre-sale, $7 at the gate per day. The party is sure to continue in the downtown after the music wraps up in the park, so please give some of our local businesses your support, I know they’d appreciate it!  Also, best to leave your pooches at home, they won’t be allowed in the park. The theme this year is superheroes, so bring some spandex! Here’s a list of events from Compass’s web site.

Also, this weekend only, in honor of Pridefest, the Lake Worth Playhouse is featuring Send In the Queens, Friday and Saturday night at 8 pm.

Click here for directions to Bryant Park. If you want my advice on parking, avoid going downtown all together, you’ll just be caught in traffic. Avoid 2nd Ave North and 6th Ave South as much as possible. Check out the highlighted areas in this map for some free parking suggestions.

Also going on down in Miami is the Ultra Music Festival, which ends the weeklong Winter Music Fest for electronic and dance music. Headliners include Tiesto, Deadmau5, Crystal Method and Passion Pit. Check out a more in depth lineup here and get some samples of the music you may hear from NPR here.

That’s all I’ve got for now, check back as I may update this throughout the day with more fun events. Til then keep moving and shaking that winter off, let’s keep it hot down here like it’s supposed to be!

Update:

Thanks to @xplorepalmbeach for reminding me about an armload of weekend activities:
